Dental Bonding
This restorative procedure involves a tooth-colored resin that is bonded to your tooth and cured with an ultraviolet light. Bonding is a great way to make small cosmetic improvements to your teeth, and it's faster and less expensive than veneers and crowns. Finished in just one office visit, dental bonding requires less removal of the tooth enamel when compared to veneers and crowns. However, it does not have the same durability as veneers or crowns, therefore bonding typically will not last as long as other forms of restoration. Since it is less resistant to stains, it is often recommended for small cosmetic touch ups rather than large restorations.
What to expect
Bonding will require between 30 to 60 minutes to complete for each tooth. First, your Antioch dentist will determine your exact shade color and select the most appropriate resin for a more natural blend. Once you and your doctor are satisfied with the shade color, the dentist will prepare the tooth for bonding. This requires roughening the surface of the affected tooth and applying a liquid conditioner. Then the dentist will apply the resin to the tooth and cure it with an ultraviolet light. We will be sure to apply any finishing touches by shaping and polishing the resin.
